How many days do residents of different countries need to work to buy an iPhone 17 Pro?

A recently published iPhone affordability index showed how many working days an average citizen from different countries needs to purchase the new Apple flagship - iPhone 17 Pro with 256 GB of storage.

The study calculated how many full eight-hour work shifts are needed, based on the retail cost of the smartphone and the average daily wage in each country.

Luxembourg and Switzerland topped the ranking: residents of these countries need only three days' earnings to buy an iPhone 17 Pro. They are followed by the USA, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, and Norway, where the purchase costs four working days. At the same time, in several developing countries, the device's cost is comparable to a monthly income. The highest figure was recorded in India - local residents will need about 160 working days. In the Philippines, the purchase will take 101 days, in Vietnam - 99, in Turkey - 89, and in Brazil - 77.

In middle-income countries, the picture looks different. For example, in Spain it will take 9 days, in the Czech Republic - 12, in Poland - 17. Residents of Portugal will have to work 24 days, in Hungary - 27, and in Chile - 32.

In developed economies, smartphone affordability remains quite high. In Germany, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Finland, and Austria, the purchase will cost five working days, in France and Sweden - six, in the United Kingdom and New Zealand - seven.
