Does the Iranian conflict put the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process at risk?
Another episode of the program Bizdən nə danışırlar? ("What are they saying about us?") aired on Baku TV channel.
The program discusses that tensions in the Middle East are not limited to the confrontation between regional powers. These processes are already directly influencing the emerging peace architecture in the South Caucasus.
An article titled "Iran Conflict Threatens Armenian-Azerbaijani Peace Process," published in Foreign Policy magazine, notes that US policy toward Iran is jeopardizing the rare diplomatic progress achieved in the Caucasus. The author of the article, Joshua Kucera, assesses this process as one of the few real successes of American diplomacy.
Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş spoke about the role of inter-parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening peace and stability in the South Caucasus. As reported by Beyaz Gazete, he stated that the formation of a trilateral dialogue at the inter-parliamentary level between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Armenia is not ruled out. According to Kurtulmuş, other states of the Caucasus region may also be brought into this format at the political and inter-parliamentary level.
