A fashion show "Patterns of Time" has been organized at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum
On July 1, a fashion show titled "Carpet Museum Fashion Show: Patterns of Time" was held at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.
As reported by BAKU.WS, Alyona Aliyeva participated in the event.
Director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum Amina Melikova announced that for the first time in the museum's history, local designers prepared new fashion collections inspired by the patterns of Azerbaijani carpets preserved in the exhibition and museum holdings.
Expressing gratitude to the designers who joined the project, she said: "From our very first invitation, they enthusiastically embraced this initiative and worked shoulder to shoulder with the staff of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum for six months. They conducted research in our holdings, studied ancient carpet samples, and the collections presented today are the successful result of precisely this work."
A. Melikova noted that the event, held in accordance with the relevant decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is dedicated to the 120th birth anniversary of the outstanding scholar, carpet researcher, and artist Latif Kerimov.
Deputy Minister of Culture Saadat Yusifova, who spoke at the event, emphasized that the Azerbaijani carpet is a rare example of art that has preserved the aesthetic taste, worldview, way of life, and spiritual values of our people for centuries. According to her, each pattern, shade of color, and composition is not only an artistic element but also a bearer of our history, national identity, and cultural memory.
She noted that preserving national heritage is possible not only through its protection but also through its new presentation in the language of modernity. From this perspective, the role of creative industries, especially design and fashion, in promoting national heritage is increasingly growing. The presented collections once again demonstrate: when tradition and innovation form a unity, national heritage gains a new breath, reaches a wider audience, and maintains its relevance.
A video clip specially prepared for the project was then shown.
The project is dedicated to presenting the rich national-cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people in the language of modern fashion and brought together the country's renowned fashion designers on a single creative platform.
At the fashion show, the rich traditions of Azerbaijani carpet weaving, national ornaments, and ancient symbols were presented through the prism of a contemporary aesthetic vision. One of the main sources of inspiration for the project was the rich creative legacy of the outstanding scholar, carpet researcher, and artist L. Kerimov, whose 120th anniversary is being celebrated this year. The designers creatively reflected the carpet compositions, patterns, color harmony, and artistic-aesthetic principles he created in contemporary clothing collections.
As part of the Fashion Show, a total of 116 outfits were demonstrated, prepared by 14 professional fashion designers — Fakhriya Khalafova, Gulnara Khalilova, Leyla Ahmadova, Yegana Sadykhova, Matanat Bayramova, Khayala Masimova, Sabina Zulalova, Leyla Babazade, Gunay Aliyeva, Shabnam Bayramova, Ajami Azer, Kubra Nuriyeva, Afag Ismayilzade, and Khayala Bayramova.
The main goal of the project is to promote Azerbaijani carpet art, preserve and pass on national-cultural heritage to future generations, and bring this heritage to a wider audience through modern forms of presentation.
