Zakir Hasanov: Azerbaijan is studying the prospects of participation in UN and NATO operations
More than 3,000 servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army have participated in peacekeeping operations in various regions of the world since 1999.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov in the foreword to the report on peacekeeping operations of the Azerbaijani Army, prepared jointly with the Center for Analysis of International Relations.
The minister noted that the activities of Azerbaijani peacekeepers have consistently received high praise from the command, various countries, and international organizations.
"Turbulent geopolitical processes and conflicts in various regions show that the role of peacekeepers is increasing. Azerbaijan, as a member of the world community and the UN, supports all initiatives aimed at maintaining peace and global security. Currently, the possibilities of the Azerbaijani Army's participation in various operations conducted by the UN and NATO to promote the maintenance of international peace are being explored," Hasanov said.
He emphasized that political decisions, the country's will, and the contribution of peacekeeping forces have strengthened Azerbaijan's reputation as a reliable partner and peace-loving country.
The report, consisting of three chapters, presents the theoretical foundations of peacekeeping operations and analyzes their political and military aspects.
