American startup PIN, founded by UC Berkeley graduate Sudeshna Naik, successfully closed its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign just two hours after launch. A week after the start, the project was supported by almost 500 investors, reports New Atlas.

The project attracted attention through a combination of unconventional design and technology: PIN wireless earbuds are handcrafted from natural wood - walnut, cherry, and bamboo. Thanks to the use of natural materials, each pair has a unique appearance. The device housing is additionally covered with a moisture-resistant sealant, which increases durability.

The earbuds feature support for AAC codec, active noise cancellation based on Dual-ENC technology, touch controls, as well as up to 8 hours of battery life and up to 32 hours with charging from the charging case. Fast charging allows for up to 3 hours of playback with just 15 minutes of charging.

The startup paid special attention to AI functions, including real-time translation to more than 150 languages, a built-in virtual assistant, and tools for improving sleep. A mobile application with equalizer settings and device location tracking is also provided.

The earbuds are available at a price starting from $134 with a discount. The premium version costing $399 includes the option for personalized engraving. PIN has stated its intention to plant one tree for every 10 devices sold. At the time of publication, 78 trees had been planted. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in October 2025.
