Trump will make a final decision on the situation with Iran tomorrow
US President Donald Trump will make a decision tomorrow on the possible resumption of war with Iran.
He said this in an interview with Axios.
Trump said that later on Saturday he would meet with his negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to discuss Iran's latest proposal and would most likely decide by Sunday whether or not to resume military action. US Vice President JD Vance is also expected to join the discussions.
The head of the Washington administration assessed the chances of reaching a good deal with Iran at exactly 50-50. Otherwise, he once again threatened to "destroy them all."
"I think one of two things will happen: either I hit them harder than they've ever been hit, or we sign a good deal," Trump said.
It is noted that the new draft memorandum of understanding that Trump intends to review on Saturday is the result of Iranian-Pakistani negotiations. Pakistani Field Marshal Asim Munir, who served as a mediator between the parties, left Tehran on Saturday after meeting with senior officials and attempting to finalize the deal. The deal was not finalized, but Pakistan reported "encouraging progress toward a final agreement."
Trump, for his part, noted that he would only accept a deal that covers such issues as uranium enrichment and the fate of Iran's existing stockpiles. He emphasized that Iran will never possess nuclear weapons and must give up its enriched uranium, and that the Strait of Hormuz must be fully open without any tolls.
However, according to Axios, these issues are unlikely to be addressed in detail within the memorandum of understanding being discussed by the US and Iran. Under this proposal, the parties would agree to a cessation of hostilities and commit to 30 days of in-depth negotiations.
