Trump named the reason for Republican failures in the midterm elections

US President Donald Trump believes that a number of Republican Party representatives suffered defeats in the current midterm elections due to their personal shortcomings and inability to win the sympathies of voters.

"Certain politicians had many weaknesses and apparently turned out to be unsuitable for the citizens," the American leader noted during a conversation with reporters from The Wall Street Journal.

The head of the White House clarified that his party members "could have performed better."

"I tried to provide them with support," he emphasized.

As a reminder, midterm elections are currently taking place in the United States. The population is set to determine 35 out of 100 members of the Senate, as well as the full composition of the House of Representatives, which includes 435 seats. In addition, new state governors are being elected in 36 regions.

Based on preliminary assessments by leading media outlets, representatives of the Democratic Party, upon completion of the vote count, will establish control over both branches of parliament. As of today, Republicans maintain leading positions there.
