The US and Iran signed an agreement: the memorandum includes 14 points
A 14-point memorandum has been signed providing for the cessation of the conflict between the United States of America and Iran.
This was reported by the Reuters agency citing American officials.
American President Donald Trump confirmed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.
"Yes, it's signed," the U.S. leader said after a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palace of Versailles. "I signed it in Versailles. I just signed it," the American president clarified.
The memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran was signed by American leader Donald Trump and the president of the Islamic Republic, Masoud Pezeshkian. This was reported by NewsNation television channel journalist Kelly Meyer, citing an American official.
"On Sunday, the memorandum of understanding was signed electronically by U.S. Vice President [JD] Vance and Speaker [of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf]. Now it has been signed by President Trump and President Pezeshkian," she clarified.
The document was titled "The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran."
It includes 14 points:
1. The United States, Iran, and their allies in the current war sign this memorandum to announce an immediate and permanent cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon. The parties commit to not initiating wars or military operations against each other, to refrain from the threat or use of force, and to ensure the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon. The final agreement will enshrine the permanent cessation of war and other provisions of this point.
2. The United States and Iran commit to respecting each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and to not interfering in each other's internal affairs.
3. The parties commit to conducting negotiations and concluding a final agreement within a maximum of 60 days, with the possibility of extension by mutual consent.
4. Immediately upon signing the memorandum, the United States will begin lifting its naval blockade and any obstacles against Iran and will fully complete this process within 30 days. During this period, vessel traffic will be restored proportionally to pre-war levels. After the conclusion of the final agreement, the United States also commits to withdrawing its forces from Iran's borders within 30 days.
5. After signing the memorandum, Iran will make every effort to ensure safe passage of commercial vessels free of charge within 60 days through the Strait of Hormuz in both directions. Shipping will be resumed immediately, and the removal of technical and military obstacles, including demining, must be completed within 30 days. Iran will consult with Oman and other coastal states of the Persian Gulf on the issue of future management of the strait in accordance with international law.
6. The United States, together with regional partners, commits to developing a coordinated plan for the reconstruction and economic development of Iran in the amount of no less than 300 billion U.S. dollars. The implementation mechanism will be agreed upon within the framework of the final agreement within 60 days. The United States will issue all necessary licenses, exemptions, and permits for the corresponding financial operations.
7. The United States commits to lifting all types of sanctions against Iran, including UN Security Council resolutions, decisions of the IAEA Board of Governors, as well as all unilateral American sanctions — primary and secondary — according to an agreed schedule within the framework of the final
