Scientist warned that Sun's activity may reach a new maximum

Head of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory at the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Bogachev told RIA Novosti that the Sun may be entering a new period of increased activity.
According to him, measurements of the solar cycle index F10.7 for September showed very unexpected values.
"The monthly average has significantly and unexpectedly increased, reaching a level of 201 units," the scientist noted.
He added that this value was higher than the peaks of the previous 24th cycle, when in 2014 the maximum was 170 units.
"At the same time, it is only 18% lower than the peak of the current cycle, which reached 245 units in August last year," Bogachev emphasized.
