Large sushi and roll sets can negatively affect the pancreas, gastroenterologist Ekaterina Titova told "Gazeta.Ru".

"Besides the enormous load of calories and salt, this is a serious challenge for the pancreas. The organ has to simultaneously produce a large amount of enzymes - both for digesting carbohydrates (rice) and fats (cheese, sauces). This is especially dangerous for people with obesity, atherosclerosis, and diabetes (both type 1 and type 2), as it can cause a sharp spike in glucose and triglyceride levels," noted the specialist.

Also, according to the doctor, consuming large amounts of heavy and unusual food can cause bloating, a feeling of heaviness in the stomach, and nausea.

"Additionally, there is a high risk of food poisoning: the more ingredients in the set, the higher the probability that at least one of them will be of poor quality. The danger is associated with violations of storage and preparation rules. For example, improperly stored fish becomes an ideal environment for the multiplication of bacteria and viruses. Cream cheese also presents a risk - if storage temperature is violated, it becomes a favorable environment for bacterial growth, including staphylococcus. This is a common cause of severe food poisoning," added Titova.
