US President Donald Trump said his visit to China is scheduled for early 2026.

"I was invited to China, and I will go there at the beginning of next year. We have almost agreed on this," he said, answering journalists' questions before meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the White House.

According to Trump, the US government does not expect a sharp surge in tensions with China over Taiwan.

"I think we will be fine with China. China doesn't want this. First of all, the United States is currently the strongest military power in the world. They have no equals, not even close. We have the best weapons. We have all the best things, and no one will joke about this," he said.

"And I don't see this at all with Chinese President Xi Jinping. I think we will get along very well regarding Taiwan," added the US president.
