Media: Muammar Gaddafi's son killed in Libya
The son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, was killed in the west of the country.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by Abaad News citing sources and an advisor to the slain politician.
It is noted that al-Islam was attacked by unknown militants during armed clashes in the city of Zintan. Details of the incident are not being disclosed.
According to Al Hadath television channel, al-Islam received a fatal wound when he was in the garden near his residence. There were four attackers, who fled from the scene. Al Jazeera television channel, in turn, claims that immediately before the assassination attempt, all surveillance cameras in the deceased's house were disabled.
According to a statement by the 444th Brigade, subordinate to the Ministry of Defense in the Government of National Unity of Libya, the eldest son of Muammar Gaddafi was killed during armed clashes. At the same time, fighters of the unit deny involvement in these events.
It should be noted that in 2021, Saif al-Islam planned to run for the post of president of Libya in general elections. However, they have still not taken place.
