American billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk tried to prevent a deal between OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, and the authorities of the United Arab Emirates for the construction of a large-scale data center in Abu Dhabi. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, OpenAI led a consortium of American technology companies that won a contract last week to create one of the world's largest data processing centers using artificial intelligence.
However, according to sources from WSJ, behind the scenes Musk actively tried to derail the agreement if it did not include his own AI startup xAI. During a phone call with representatives of the Emirati company G42, he allegedly stated that US President Donald Trump would not approve the deal without xAI's participation.
