In Ukraine, citizens over 60 years old are allowed to serve under contract

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed a bill allowing citizens aged 60 and over to voluntarily sign contracts for military service during martial law. The contract is concluded for 1 year with a two-month probationary period.
This is reported by Ukrainian media.
306 MPs voted "in favor." Bill No. 13229 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada in April. In June, the parliament passed the bill in the first reading.
According to the bill, during the period of martial law, with a letter from the commander of a military unit, persons aged 60 and over who have been deemed fit for military service by a military medical commission may be accepted for contract military service in the following positions:
- private, sergeant or petty officer ranks;
- junior or senior officer ranks (provided that these individuals were discharged from military service after January 1, 2015).
