Destructive hurricane in Texas: more than 160,000 people left without electricity

Powerful natural disaster struck the northern part of Texas, USA, leaving tens of thousands of homes without electricity.
As reported by BAKU.WS, with reference to The Washington Post (WP), local authorities report extensive infrastructure damage.
Hurricane-force winds reaching speeds of 35 meters per second led to dozens of power lines being cut and caused significant damage to urban infrastructure. According to official sources, more than 200 reports of damage caused by the natural disaster in the northern part of the state have been registered.
By Monday morning, the situation remains tense - about 90,000 people are still without power. Meteorologists warn that the bad weather in Texas may last all week. Moreover, destructive hurricanes threaten other states as well - Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee are at risk. Adverse weather conditions with strong winds and hail are also expected in eastern Kentucky, West Virginia, western Maryland, eastern Ohio, and southwestern New York.
Texas emergency services are preparing for possible flooding that may follow the heavy rains. The publication notes alarming statistics: since the beginning of this year, Texas has recorded a record number of hurricanes and tornadoes compared to other US states. Experts attribute this phenomenon to the abnormally high water temperature in the Gulf of Mexico.
