Parents abandoned their son at the airport due to an expired passport and flew away on vacation

Parents who had planned a vacation abandoned their ten-year-old son at one of Europe's airports and went on holiday without him.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Daily Mail, the incident occurred at El Prat International Airport in Barcelona, Spain. According to the source, a tourist family arrived at the flight check-in, but airport staff discovered that their child's documents were expired. The boy was denied boarding.
However, this did not change the parents' plans. They left their son alone in the airport building, explaining to him that he should wait for other relatives, and proceeded with their journey.
The child was noticed by airport staff who immediately contacted the police. "He told them that his parents had flown back to their homeland," wrote an air traffic controller on his social media page.
Police officers quickly established the parents' whereabouts and brought them to the station where their underage son was located. Information about whether the couple was detained has not yet been reported.
