Brussels Expands Presence in Greenland

The European Commission (EC) will expand the staff of its representation in Greenland, which currently consists of three civil servants.

This was reported by the Euractiv portal.

As European officials explained to the portal, the additional personnel are being sent to assist the local administration in managing the €200 million investment package.

Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated at a press conference during her visit to Greenland that the EU had provided Greenland with a "partnership package" of €200 million, including for the development of satellite internet and the extraction of critically important minerals — graphite and molybdenum — for export to EU countries. She also emphasized that the EU "considers the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Greenland inviolable," which belongs to Denmark and is claimed by the United States.
