An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 occurred off the coast of the northern Kuril Islands on February 4 at 06:06 local time (00:06 Baku time).
As reported by Elena Semenova, head of the "Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk" seismic station, the epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean - 134 kilometers southeast of the city of Severo-Kurilsk on Paramushir Island.
"The source of the underground tremors was at a depth of 19 kilometers," Semenova specified.
The seismologist also noted that no tsunami warning was issued.
