Who should avoid figs?
Figs are deservedly called one of the most beneficial summer fruits: they are rich in fiber, potassium, calcium, and antioxidants. However, doctors warn - despite the benefits, there are categories of people who should avoid this delicacy or consume it with caution.
People with diabetes
Figs contain a lot of natural sugars. Consumption in large quantities can raise blood glucose levels, so diabetics are advised to strictly limit portions.
Patients with stomach and intestinal diseases
High fiber content can cause discomfort, bloating, and exacerbation in cases of gastritis, colitis, or irritable bowel syndrome.
People with kidney stone disease
Figs are rich in oxalic acid, which can provoke the formation or growth of kidney stones.
Allergy sufferers
Although not common, allergies to figs are possible, especially in those who are sensitive to other exotic fruits.
Doctors remind: healthy people can safely include figs in their diet, but in moderate amounts - 2-3 fruits per day will be enough to get the benefits without harm.
