Vatican's concerns about possible drone attack at Pope's funeral revealed
During the funeral of Pope Francis, the Vatican took unprecedented security measures, fearing a possible attack using drones.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the National Interest publication.
"The Vatican's airspace was completely closed, including a strict ban on flights of any aircraft. These measures were aimed at preventing potential threats from the air during the funeral ceremony," the article states.
According to the publication, security services expressed "serious concern" about homemade drones, especially given the alarming trend of converting civilian UAVs into combat ones in Ukraine and the Middle East. Journalists note that thousands of military personnel were mobilized to ensure security in Rome and the Vatican, some of whom were armed with special anti-drone systems.
The farewell to the pontiff took place on April 26. The solemn ceremony was held at the famous St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
