Unexpected discovery: popular product linked to premature death

Researchers from the prestigious Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School have presented results of a large-scale study on the effects of different types of oils on human health. The study results were published in the authoritative scientific journal JAMA Internal Medicine.
The scientific work is based on the analysis of three large-scale American health studies: NHS (1990-2023), NHS II (1991-2023), and HPFS (1990-2023). The study involved more than 220,000 healthy volunteers who were monitored over 33 years. The initial age of participants was 56 years for NHS and HPFS, and 36 years for NHS II.
The results showed significant advantages of vegetable oils over butter. Daily consumption of 10g of vegetable oil reduces the risk of mortality from cancer by 11% and from cardiovascular diseases by 6%. In contrast, the same amount of butter increases the risk of death from cancer by 12%.
The positive effects of olive, canola, and soybean oils are particularly noted. Just 5g of olive oil daily reduces the risk of mortality from cancer by 4% and from heart disease by 3%. A similar amount of canola and soybean oil reduces the risk of death from cancer by 19% and from cardiovascular diseases by 6%.
