According to a statement by a well-known Russian medical expert, to maintain optimal levels of vitamin C in the body, it is necessary to consume about 10 kilograms of strawberries during the season. This information was provided by a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Olga Milushkina in an interview with the RIA Novosti news agency.

"Medical specialists recommend consuming approximately 10 kilograms of strawberries in a season, which lasts from the end of May in southern regions and can continue until autumn when growing everbearing varieties," the expert emphasized.

The professor noted that the vitamin C content in strawberries varies from 50 to 100 milligrams per 100 grams of the product. This berry is especially valuable for people with vision problems, Milushkina added.

A recent study conducted by scientists from San Diego State University in March of this year revealed that regular consumption of strawberries significantly increases the body's antioxidant protection and positively affects episodic memory. The experiment involved people over 65 years of age who were overweight or obese (BMI from 25 to 40 kg/m²). Participants were divided into two groups: one received a placebo, the other - a freeze-dried strawberry drink.

The results of the study demonstrated that people who consumed strawberries experienced a small increase in cognitive processing speed and a decrease in systolic blood pressure. More significant was the increase in antioxidant protection - the body's ability to resist cell oxidation by reactive oxygen species. Additionally, participants who received the strawberry drink showed improved episodic memory, which is responsible for recording and reproducing personal events and impressions.
