People who are trying to lose extra kilograms very often make one mistake. It involves drastically restricting calories while maintaining the same approach to food choices. Reducing the energy value of the diet without improving its quality harms the body, dietitian Natalia Mizinova explained to NEWS.ru.
"Let me explain: a person decides to eat 1,500 kilocalories, drinks a cocktail for lunch, and eats a protein bar for dinner. They think they've stayed within their calorie limit and their weight will certainly start to decrease because a deficit has been created. However, by doing this, they completely deprive their body of necessary proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and microelements," she explained.
Strict diets and fasting practices are equally harmful to health, the doctor added.
