Named little-known symptom of intestinal cancer

The feeling of incomplete bowel emptying and a persistent desire to visit the toilet after defecation may signal a serious health problem. Surgeon Alasdair Scott, in an interview with the Daily Mail, warned that this little-known symptom could indicate the development of colorectal cancer.
The medical specialist explained that such false urges have a special name - tenesmus. Upon discovering this symptom, it is strongly recommended to seek medical attention immediately. People over 55 should be particularly vigilant, although, as Dr. Scott notes, current statistics show an alarming trend: colorectal cancer is increasingly being diagnosed in young patients.
Changes in stool consistency are also a common sign of oncological processes in the intestines. The surgeon clarified that with this disease, looser stools and increased frequency of defecation are more commonly observed, however, constipation can also be a symptom. The presence of mucus and blood in the fecal matter is another cause for concern. "In reality, rectal bleeding is not that common. In most cases, it's not caused by cancer. However, only half of patients with colorectal cancer experienced this symptom," Scott explained.
The particular danger lies in the asymptomatic progression of bowel cancer over a long period. For timely detection of the disease, the surgeon recommends carefully monitoring any changes in the digestive system and not neglecting preventive examinations after reaching the age of 40.
