FIFA wants to introduce new changes to football

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) plans to make changes to the format of the Club World Cup. This is reported by The Guardian.

The media indicates that FIFA is considering holding the tournament once every two years starting from 2029 and wants to increase the number of participants from 32 to 48 teams. It is planned that more than two clubs from one country will be allowed to participate in the Club World Cup.

Also, to avoid overloading the international calendar, friendly matches between national teams and July tournaments for national teams may be canceled. However, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) will be against this due to the Nations League.

Real Madrid requested FIFA to hold the tournament once every two years, having previously approached the Spanish La Liga asking for additional rest days for the club due to participation in the Club World Cup and receiving support from the world's leading clubs.
