Blocking of calls in Telegram and WhatsApp has begun in Russia

Users from Russia have encountered problems when using voice calls in Telegram and WhatsApp messengers.
This is reported on her Telegram channel by journalist and blogger Anastasia Kashevarova.
According to her, WhatsApp restrictions did begin in August, although initially the blocking was planned to start from July 1.
Currently, problems are observed only when connecting through mobile internet - calls either don't go through, or the connection quality deteriorates significantly. When using Wi-Fi, calls still work, but according to Kashevarova, this is a "temporary testing phase".
Earlier, telecom operators proposed restricting voice calls in WhatsApp and Telegram, calling them "enemy messengers". The journalist states that problems with calls will soon begin in Durov's messenger as well.
Calls go through if VPN is connected. "Unfriendly" VPNs will also be blocked soon.
"We need to develop a single clear solution for cybersecurity and disconnection of unfriendly systems. And also understand what to use if we disconnect what many people work with," writes Anastasia Kashevarova.
In some cities (Krasnodar and Novorossiysk), the internet was completely shut down - including due to drone attacks.
