Immunologist warned allergy sufferers against consuming certain foods in spring

Allergy sufferers who react to birch pollen should carefully reconsider their diet. Russian allergist-immunologist Elena Bobrikova warns that a whole range of common products can trigger a dangerous cross-allergic reaction.
The list of potentially dangerous products includes fruits: apples, pears, sweet cherries, cherries, and peaches. One should also be cautious about consuming carrots, celery, and parsley. Special attention should be paid to peanuts and soy, which can also cause an unwanted reaction.
- It is recommended to monitor pollen levels in the air using mobile applications, use personal respiratory protection such as medical masks when levels are high, and wear glasses outdoors, - Bobrikova said.
The specialist emphasized the importance of preventive measures during exacerbation periods. Allergy sufferers are strongly advised to refrain from trips to nature during active tree flowering in spring, and in summer to avoid places with an abundance of meadow and weed grasses, reports RIA Novosti.
