Patients prone to hyperpigmentation are not recommended to undergo plastic surgeries during the summer period.

This was reported by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Svyatoslav Strelin in a conversation with "Gazeta.Ru".

According to him, interventions on exposed areas of the body - face and neck - should be especially avoided. Summer heat and intense sun increase the risk of pigmented scars. Additionally, laser procedures on such areas can also lead to undesirable consequences.

Strelin emphasized that people with chronic diseases, as well as those who cannot strictly follow the post-operative regimen, should postpone the intervention until a more suitable time of year.

He also gave recommendations on how to minimize risks during operations in hot weather. The doctor noted that high temperatures can lead to dehydration and slow down the recovery process, increasing the risk of blood clots. Therefore, during the rehabilitation period, it is extremely important to consume at least two liters of water per day. It is also advisable to reduce the consumption of salt, alcohol, and caffeine.

In the first 4-6 weeks after surgery, one should avoid overheating the body and intense physical activity to prevent swelling or bleeding. However, light walks, on the contrary, can speed up recovery.

Strelin paid special attention to the care of the surgical area: it is necessary to maintain hygiene, change dressings according to the doctor's recommendations, and not touch the wound with dirty hands. Compression garments should remain clean throughout the entire recovery period.

At the first signs of infection - such as redness, swelling, discharge, or fever - the doctor strongly recommends seeking medical help immediately.
