President Ilham Aliyev congratulated "Karabakh" club

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated the football club "Karabakh," which achieved a sensational victory over Portuguese "Benfica" in the main stage of the UEFA Champions League.

As reported by BAKU.WS, the congratulation was published on the official social media pages of the head of state.

"From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate the football club "Karabakh" from Aghdam on their first victory in the main stage of the Champions League - the most prestigious club tournament on the continent. This is a historic victory for Azerbaijani football and all Azerbaijani sports.

The brilliant victory of "Karabakh" in the away match against "Benfica," one of the oldest clubs in Europe, making an amazing comeback during the game, demonstrates the invincible spirit and will to fight of our team.

With this victory, our beloved team has given immense joy to the Azerbaijani people. Every Azerbaijani is proud of "Karabakh," which is creating miracles in Europe.

I wish our team success and new victories in the upcoming Champions League matches," - the publication states.

It should be noted that in the main stage of the UEFA Champions League, "Karabakh" secured a confident victory over "Benfica" in Lisbon with a score of 2:3.
