Gurban Gurbanov commented on the defeat: We had problems in the attacking line

As reported by Oxu.Az, Qarabag football club head coach Gurban Gurbanov made this statement at a press conference following the second leg of the UEFA Conference League play-off against Dutch side Twente.

"We were very motivated and determined to win. Unfortunately, it turned out differently. Such things happen in football: there were both mistakes and shortcomings. We faced a very tough team. We really wanted to play in the league phase of the Conference League. Now we will continue to carry out our work responsibly.

I want to thank our fans for the magnificent atmosphere they created in the stands. We had problems in the attacking line. In a match against such a team, we needed to play much faster. The opponent controlled the ball very well," Gurbanov stated.

The Agdam side's manager also touched on the topic of the team's squad.

"When we, together with the management, began the process of renewing the squad, we discussed this step in detail. We understood that the squad needed to be changed. We thought it would take us three months, possibly even until December. Considering this, perhaps the absence of European competition will work in our favor. Although the experience of playing in Europe wouldn't have been unnecessary either. It would have meant additional responsibility and experience for the players," the coach added.

It should be noted that the Qarabag vs. Twente match, held at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium, ended with a score of 1:4.

In the first meeting, the Azerbaijani representative won with a score of 1:0.

Thus, Twente, having won over the two legs with an aggregate score of 4:2, secured a spot in the league phase of the UEFA Conference League.
