A player from Qarabag's rival club: For us, a draw is equivalent to a defeat
"Qarabag" is a fairly strong team. I hope we will achieve a positive result and will do everything possible for that.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the website topsport.bg, this was stated by CSKA Sofia defender Teodor Ivanov.
In a conversation with journalists at the airport before departing for Azerbaijan, the footballer said that they are heading to Baku with the intention of winning:
"In the match against 'Slavia,' we lacked commitment, we were unable to show our best game and demonstrate our qualities. For CSKA, a draw is unacceptable; only a victory is considered a success. So naturally, the mood is not the best. For us, a draw is equivalent to a defeat. The main thing is to win by playing beautiful football and to improve the atmosphere in the team.
Our fans account for 50% of our success. We will definitely feel their absence. We will fight until the end to please those who will be watching the match on television."
It should be noted that CSKA Sofia drew with "Slavia" (0:0) in the away match of the first round of the Bulgarian championship. In addition, due to UEFA sanctions, the team is deprived of fan support in Baku.
As a reminder, the first match of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League between "Qarabag" and CSKA Sofia will take place on July 23 and will kick off at 20:00 Baku time. The return match will be held a week later in Bulgaria.
