Main causes of pedestrian accidents in Baku revealed

Analysis of recent pedestrian accidents shows that traffic accidents most often occur due to crossing the road in unauthorized places, sudden entry onto the roadway, and inattentiveness while crossing the road.

As reported by Baku.ws, this was stated in an address by the Main Department of State Road Police (MDSRP).

Despite regular warnings, many pedestrians continue to violate traffic rules, putting their lives at risk. In this regard, the MDSRP once again reminds about the importance of following safety rules.

Pedestrians are strongly advised to cross the road only at designated places - at pedestrian crossings, including underground and overhead crossings. It is important to strictly follow traffic light signals and establish eye contact with the driver before crossing. It is strictly forbidden to run onto the roadway in front of approaching vehicles. At night, it is recommended to wear clothing with reflective elements to be more visible on the road.

The road police advise drivers to reduce speed before pedestrian crossings, be especially careful near schools and hospitals, strictly follow traffic rules, avoid using phones while driving, and never drive under the influence of alcohol. Special caution should be exercised towards children and elderly pedestrians.

The MDSRP calls on all road users to be vigilant, as following basic rules can save lives.
