During the summer season, against the backdrop of abnormal heat and drought, the risk of fires increases significantly.

During these months, fires often occur both in forests and in private homes, vehicles, and economic facilities. In most cases, these incidents happen due to human carelessness, non-compliance with fire safety rules, and the absence of timely preventive measures.

How can we minimize the risk of fire in homes, facilities, vehicles, and public places?

On this issue, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) informed BAKU.WS that due to hot weather, which increases fire danger, it is necessary to strictly observe fire safety rules. In this regard, the public is reminded of several important points:

• It is strictly forbidden to use open fire, smoke on the territory of grain fields, threshing floors, haystacks, and near them;

• It is not allowed to discard materials soaked in flammable liquids, as well as glass bottles and glass fragments that can increase the risk of fire;

• It is unacceptable to throw unextinguished matches and cigarette butts on the ground;

• The territories of houses and household plots, as well as the yards of enterprises, should be regularly cleaned of dry grass and other combustible waste;

• When making a campfire in nature, it is necessary to choose a safe place where there is no grass, branches, and other combustible materials. You should prepare a special place for the fire or use the place of an old fire;

• The fire should never be left unattended. When leaving the area, it is necessary to completely extinguish the fire, pour water on it, and then cover it with soil. Leave the place only after making sure that the fire is completely extinguished!;

• In windy weather, making fires is extremely dangerous and strictly prohibited;

• It is important to remember that making fires in forest areas is prohibited by law;

• In case of a fire, try to extinguish it with available means - water, soil, dense fabric, etc., and immediately report the incident to the hotline "112".

Regarding the fire safety of vehicles, the ministry noted that there are also special aspects that require attention.

In this regard, the MES appeals to owners and drivers of vehicles with an important warning: it is necessary to pay maximum attention to fire safety rules. It is reported that the technical condition of cars should be constantly monitored, especially electrical wires with damaged insulation should be replaced in a timely manner. Technical changes that go beyond the standards established by the manufacturer are also not allowed, and when transporting dangerous goods, it is necessary to strictly observe existing safety rules. Smoking in the car creates an additional risk and is strongly discouraged.

The Ministry also reminds that each vehicle must be equipped with a fire extinguisher, the technical condition of which must be periodically checked and kept in constant readiness for use. The fire extinguisher should be located in the car's cabin for quick access by the driver.

Drivers should know that smoke or the smell of burning in the car cabin may be the first signs of a possible fire. In such cases, it is recommended to immediately stop the car, turn off the engine, report to the hotline "112" and, if the fire is small, try to extinguish it using primary firefighting equipment. However, if the flame is significant, it is necessary first of all to ensure personal safety and move away to a distance of at least 10 meters.
