Today marks the 33rd anniversary of the beginning of a new era in the history of CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL).

This was reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the AZAL press service.

"Since 1992, AZAL has worthily represented Azerbaijan in the international aviation arena, ensuring the region's sustainable entry to the global level. In accordance with the instructions of the country's President Ilham Aliyev the airline has transitioned to a corporate management model, prioritizing the implementation of innovations and compliance with global quality standards in civil aviation.

Thanks to consistent reforms and strategic initiatives in recent years, AZAL has achieved significant results.

Compared to 2022, the number of destinations in 2024 has more than doubled - from 27 to 63. The number of passengers carried increased from 2.2 million in 2022 to 4 million in 2024. AZAL has signed agreements to purchase Boeing and Airbus aircraft, as well as concluded contracts with AerCap and CDB Aviation for aircraft leasing. By 2030, the modernized fleet is planned to be replenished with more than 20 modern aircraft, as well as an expansion of the total volume of orders.

Significant progress is also noted in AZANS activities: in 2024, the total number of flights in Azerbaijan's airspace increased by 83% compared to 2022, and the volume of transit flights grew by 100%.

Positive dynamics are also observed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport: the number of destinations served increased from 67 to 81, and passenger traffic grew from 4.4 million to 7.5 million people.

We sincerely thank every AZAL employee - whether on board an aircraft, at the airport, in the control tower, or in the office - for their high professionalism and dedication that accompany us on this progressive path," the airline's statement says.
