33 years have passed since the Agdaban genocide

Today marks another anniversary of the Agdaban genocide.
As BAKU.WS reminds, 33 years have passed since those bloody events.
On the night of April 7-8, 1992, the village of Agdaban in the Kalbajar district, consisting of 130 houses, was completely burned by Armenians and wiped off the face of the earth. 779 civilians of the settlement were subjected to inhuman torture. 32 people became victims of this genocide, including eight elderly people aged 90-100 years, two young children, and seven women who were burned alive.
Another manifestation of the policy of vandalism carried out by Armenians against Azerbaijani cultural heritage was the destruction of the manuscript of poet Gurban Agdabanly and one of the masters of classical ashug poetry, Dede Shemshir.
The first to give this tragedy a political and legal assessment was national leader Heydar Aliyev. He called the events in Agdaban one of the greatest crimes against humanity and characterized them as a disgrace to all mankind.
