Zakharova: Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran are developing the North-South Transport Corridor
Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran are implementing a project to expand the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), particularly its railway branch.
This was announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova during today's briefing.
She emphasized that Russia notes with satisfaction the unwavering commitment of the three countries to consistently expand the transport corridor's potential.
"The road route, by the way, has long been launched and is functioning successfully. The cargo traffic volumes are growing steadily year by year. We are now working on creating seamless railway logistics on the western section of the corridor. This will become possible after implementing the construction project of the section between the cities of Rasht and Astara. This section is 162 kilometers long," said Zakharova.
