# Verdict Read to Arastun Orujlu, Accused of Anti-State Incitement

The trial of Arastun Orujlu, accused of anti-state calls, has taken place.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to APA, at the court session chaired by Babek Panahov at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, the verdict was read out, according to which Orujlu was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment.

It should be noted that Arastun Orujlu is charged under Article 281.2 (public calls directed against the state, if committed repeatedly or by a group of persons) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

Since he was hiding outside Azerbaijan, evading investigation, a search was announced. By the decision of the Binagadi District Court dated February 23 of this year, a preventive measure in the form of detention in absentia was chosen against him.

On September 18, 2025, additions and amendments were made to the charges, and a decision was made to bring Arastun Orujlu as a suspect under Articles 220.2 and 281.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

It is reported that on January 4, 2023, on the YouTube platform on the channel Ərəstun Oruclunun kanalı and on October 24, 2024, on the channel Azərfreedom TV, he, together with other persons, acting in a pre-coordinated group, made public calls for the use of violence against the lawfully formed and functioning government of Azerbaijan, and disseminated these calls.
