In Geneva, Switzerland, within the framework of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council, a resolution initiated by Azerbaijan titled "Promoting human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals through transparent, accountable and effective delivery of public services" was unanimously adopted.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, in addition to the main co-sponsoring countries — Turkey, Georgia, Ecuador, Kenya, Malaysia and Thailand — member states of the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Ethiopia and a number of other countries representing Africa, Asia and the Americas, as well as states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, joined the resolution as co-sponsors.

The resolution was put forward with the aim of promoting within the UN system the principle of "transparent, accountable and effective delivery of public services" based on the ASAN Xidmət concept, which is one of Azerbaijan's significant achievements in the fight against corruption and has become an international brand of the country.

The adopted resolution emphasizes the importance of effective public services in protecting and promoting all human rights, as well as in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Agenda.
