Turkey will equip Azerbaijan Air Force helicopters with the latest machine gun systems

Turkish defense company Canik has carried out the integration of new armament for Mi-17 helicopters of the Azerbaijan Air Force.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Haber Global, the company is expanding its armament and platform integration capabilities with the FALCON FLEX 50 system, developed for the use of the M3 heavy machine gun chambered in 12.7×99 mm on helicopters.

According to the information, work has been carried out to integrate the M3 FALCON machine gun and the FALCON FLEX 50 aircraft mount developed for helicopters of the Azerbaijan Air Force's Mi-17 fleet. As part of the project, a Mi-17 helicopter from Turkey's inventory was first studied, after which initial technical work was conducted in Azerbaijan.

After the completion of the integration project, testing of the first prototypes was simulated at the facility in Samsun. Subsequently, airworthiness and firing tests were successfully conducted in Azerbaijan.

The company stated that the systems will be delivered to the Azerbaijan Air Force this year. The FALCON FLEX 50 is a modular weapon mount adaptable for installation in helicopter doors, windows, and ramps.
