The United Nations called on Armenia not to interfere with the independence of the judiciary
The Community of Western Azerbaijan (CWA) condemned attempts by Armenia and its supporters to justify war crimes, encourage impunity, and interfere with the independence of justice.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated in a statement distributed by the CWA.
"In Azerbaijan, judicial proceedings are currently underway against those suspected of war crimes and crimes against humanity. As a result of Armenia's armed aggression, tens of thousands of Azerbaijanis were killed, hundreds of thousands were ethnically cleansed, thousands of people became victims of torture, and enormous damage was inflicted on state and private property," the statement notes.
The community emphasizes that punishing the guilty is an important step toward justice and sustainable peace.
"Instead of facilitating the judicial process, the government of the Republic of Armenia and the country's leading political forces are attempting to justify the crimes actually committed and are contributing to impunity. The parliaments of several European countries, unscrupulous functionaries of international organizations, and other political circles are also taking an active position on this issue," the organization stated.
In this regard, the CWA called for an end to pressure on the judicial system and respect for the principles of justice.
