It is important to continue the work on explaining to Baku the reasons and nature of the detention of Azerbaijani natives in Yekaterinburg.

As BAKU.WS reports with reference to TASS, this was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov.

"We sincerely regret such decisions being taken. It is important to continue the work on explaining the reasons and nature of those events which, according to the Azerbaijani side, served as the reason for such demarches," he said, answering a question about how the Kremlin assesses Baku's cancellation of Russian events in connection with the detention of Azerbaijani natives in Yekaterinburg.

"We are interested in further developing our good relations with Azerbaijan," Peskov added.

According to him, at the moment there is no conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev on the agenda: "But on the other hand, if it is required, it will take place in the shortest possible time," Peskov said, answering a question about a possible telephone conversation between the heads of state in connection with the detention of Azerbaijani natives in Yekaterinburg.
