The Milli Majlis demanded that the European Parliament abandon politically motivated actions against Azerbaijan

The Committee on International Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Relations of the Milli Mejlis sent a letter of protest to the European Parliament regarding the resolution adopted on March 13.
Report was informed about this by the Milli Mejlis.
"We express our strong protest against the unfounded, biased resolution of the European Parliament dated March 13 entitled 'Illegal detention of Armenian hostages and fictitious trials.' This document ignores the principles of sovereignty, rule of law, and justice, as well as Azerbaijan's legitimate right to hold accountable those who have committed serious crimes. Furthermore, the resolution deliberately conceals the historical realities of the past 30 years and the suffering of the Azerbaijani people due to Armenia's illegal actions," the committee's statement says.
The fate of about 4 thousand missing Azerbaijani citizens is still unknown, but the European Parliament biasedly ignores these crimes and instead makes unfounded accusations against Azerbaijan.
"Having restored its territorial integrity in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, Azerbaijan has the legitimate right to hold accountable those guilty of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, and terrorism. Accusations (against Azerbaijan - ed.) of 'blockade' and 'ethnic cleansing' in 2023 are politically motivated fabrications used to hide the true perpetrators – the armed forces of Armenia, which occupied Azerbaijani lands for decades, expelled 750 thousand Azerbaijanis, and destroyed hundreds of towns and villages," the document emphasizes.
The reintegration of the Karabakh region into the constitutional framework of Azerbaijan was carried out in full compliance with international law.
The committee's statement indicates that most residents of Armenian nationality voluntarily decided to leave the region, and Azerbaijan is still ready to ensure their rights and security: "In this context, the European Parliament's calls for sanctions and diplomatic restrictions are an unacceptable interference in Azerbaijan's internal affairs."
The committee notes that Azerbaijan is committed to international law and ensuring peace in the region. "External pressure and unfair accusations will not change our determination to protect our people and territory from occupation and armed separatism. The individuals who have appeared before the court are not prisoners of war – they are criminals who have violated Azerbaijan's legislation, and their prosecution is taking place within the framework of a fair trial. Thus, the European Parliament's resolution only escalates tensions and hinders the establishment of lasting peace in the region. We call on the European Parliament to respect the principles of justice and sovereignty, to abandon politically motivated decisions that impede peace and reconciliation. Only justice and mutual understanding will ensure sustainable stability in the South Caucasus," the statement says.
