Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting on May 21 with a visiting delegation led by UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.

As reported by the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, the current state and prospects for further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN were discussed. The parties exchanged views on issues of multilateral cooperation, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, climate action, as well as initiatives carried out in the direction of restoration and reconstruction in the post-conflict period.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan's contribution to the international agenda in the areas of peace, security, and sustainable development, emphasizing the country's role in advancing regional cooperation and connectivity projects.

Additionally, information was provided on the large-scale restoration and construction work being carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, as well as measures taken to ensure the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons.

The parties also discussed Azerbaijan's leading role in the field of energy security and regional connectivity, as well as the country's strategic engagement with Central Asia.

UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed emphasized the importance of the partnership between Azerbaijan and the UN, noting the significance of expanding cooperation in the areas of sustainable development, urban planning, the climate agenda, and humanitarian issues.

During the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
