Leila Aliyeva visited the Victory at Adwa Museum Complex in Addis Ababa
Leyla Aliyeva visited the Victory Museum Complex at Adwa.
As reported by AZERTAG, the Victory Museum at Adwa is a memorial complex dedicated to the victory achieved on March 1, 1896, in the Battle of Adwa over Italian invaders. The complex is located in the center of Addis Ababa, at the site where Ethiopians from all corners of the country gathered before heading to the Battle of Adwa. This historical event holds great significance for both Ethiopia and the entire African continent, symbolizing the unity and determination of the people in their struggle for freedom. By achieving a brilliant victory in this battle, Ethiopia maintained its independence and became the only state in African history that was not subjected to colonization.
At the entrance to the memorial, there are statues of Emperor Menelik II and Empress Taitu Betul, as well as 12 generals who led the army during that period.
The museum has a special section dedicated to Pan-Africanism. It emphasizes Ethiopia's cooperation with other African countries and their leaders. The complex features various works of modern and ancient art, as well as rare artifacts from that time - shields, swords, firearms, documents, and other historical relics. In addition to exhibition halls, the complex also includes an amphitheater, libraries, and youth centers.
Leyla Aliyeva also visited Addis Ababa's largest recreational area - Friendship Park.
The performance of the magnificent musical fountain in the center of the park created a magical atmosphere. Water drops "dancing" to the melodic tunes of Azerbaijani folk songs, merging in harmony with musical chords, resembled an elegant work of art.
