Congratulations continue to arrive addressed to President Ilham Aliyev

GUAM Secretary General Altai Efendiev sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

On behalf of the International Secretariat of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM and on my own behalf, I convey to You and the people of Azerbaijan the most sincere congratulations on the occasion of Independence Day.

Under Your leadership, the Republic of Azerbaijan continues to move along a dynamic, progressive path, the country's independence and sovereignty are being further strengthened, and the dreams and aspirations of the people are being brought to life.

Traditionally, this year Independence Day is celebrated with new important achievements both in socio-economic development and in regional and global matters.

The process of restoration and reconstruction of the liberated lands following the glorious Victory of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan continues successfully and rapidly. The program for the return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands contributes to the revival and renewal of the Karabakh region, as well as its integration into the country's economy.

Today, with a dynamic and growing economy, Azerbaijan continues to act as a driving force for regional progress and international cooperation, putting forward and implementing major projects and initiatives.

Azerbaijan is also becoming an important regional and international actor with great authority and influence, advocating for peace, security and dialogue, demonstrating leadership within such global organizations and initiatives as the Non-Aligned Movement, COP and other international platforms. The country's recent hosting of the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum is yet another confirmation of this. In periods of crisis in the system of international relations, when the principles of international law are violated, Azerbaijan sets an example in defending a just peace based on established norms and principles of peaceful coexistence for all nations.

The steps taken toward achieving peace with Armenia demonstrate Azerbaijan's commitment to regional peace and cooperation, and this is perceived with approval. We highly appreciate Your personal involvement and efforts in achieving a just and lasting peace, particularly with Armenia. We wish You success in achieving this goal.

Your Excellency, we highly appreciate the active and constructive role of Azerbaijan as a founding member of GUAM, the 20th anniversary of which we celebrate this year. We are firmly convinced that GUAM is a unique and effective regional platform for promoting peace, security and cooperation. The profound geopolitical changes that have occurred recently have once again demonstrated the geostrategic significance of our geography as a natural link between East and West, Europe and Asia. We also believe that our organization is capable of leveraging the advantages and potential of our region for the benefit and welfare of the member states and the international community.

We look forward to deepening cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan in the implementation of our joint initiatives and projects that will contribute to further strengthening the independence and improving the well-being of our peoples.

Dear Mr. President, on the occasion of this momentous holiday, we wish You success in Your efforts to further develop the country, strengthen its independence and sovereignty, and to the people of Azerbaijan - lasting peace, progress and prosperity."

King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
