Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed the republic's readiness to join the Black Sea submarine power cable project.

According to Baku.ws, citing TASS, the Armenian Prime Minister made this statement during a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze following the meeting of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

He also noted the importance of ensuring inclusivity in regional and extra-regional projects.

"In this context, we emphasize Armenia's interest and readiness to join the Black Sea submarine power cable project," he stressed.

Note that Black Sea Energy provides for the supply of green energy generated in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea to Georgia, and then via submarine cable through the Black Sea to Europe. This corridor plans to export 4 GW of green energy annually.

The feasibility study development is already in its final stage. The construction will take 3-4 years. The European Commission plans to allocate 2.3 billion euros for the project.

Recall that on December 17, 2022, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Georgia, and Romania signed a strategic partnership agreement that provides for the construction of an energy bridge from the Caucasus region to Europe. Under the agreement, the construction of the Black Sea Energy underwater electric cable with a capacity of 1,000 MW and a length of 1,195 km is expected. The cable will be designed to supply green electricity produced in Azerbaijan through Georgia and the Black Sea to Romania for subsequent transportation to Hungary and the rest of Europe.
