Student admissions announced for a number of schools in Azerbaijan
Enrollment of students has been announced for general education institutions where a new specialized (profile) education model will be implemented in the 2026/27 academic year.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the State Agency for Preschool and General Education of Azerbaijan.
It is noted that the new model, covering grades 10-11, is aimed at more effectively preparing students for admission to higher education institutions directly within the school. The main goal is for students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for university admission through an enhanced and targeted educational process without the need for additional preparation outside of school. Within the framework of the model, special curricula and in-depth subject programs are being developed in accordance with the admission requirements of higher education institutions.
In the current academic year, the new profile model is operating in 14 educational institutions. In 10th grades, 1,178 students are studying under this model, and in 11th grades — 406. In total, 1,584 students and 263 teachers, selected according to special criteria, are participating in the project. The quality of the educational process in these institutions is regularly monitored and assessed.
An analysis conducted for the period from September to December of the 2025/26 academic year showed that the average student attendance rate in most schools ranged from 95% to 100%. Furthermore, the results of final examinations indicate that the average score of students studying under the new model consistently exceeds the average for their respective cities. The number of students scoring below 100 points has been minimized across all institutions.
Given the results achieved, it has been deemed appropriate to gradually expand the network of schools operating under this model to 100 educational institutions.
