Parviz Shahbazov: Over 54 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas supplied to Europe via TAP
To date, more than 54 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas have been supplied to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
As reported by BAKU.WS, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov wrote this on his social media page on "X".
"It has been 5 years since Azerbaijan began exporting natural gas to Europe via TAP. During this period, over 54 billion cubic meters have been transported through the pipeline. This year, according to operational data, 12.8 billion cubic meters of gas were exported to Europe under short and long-term contracts," the publication states.
Recall that the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, the final component of the Southern Gas Corridor designed to transport Azerbaijani gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe, was put into commercial operation on November 15, 2020. The 878-kilometer pipeline passes through Greece, Albania, the Adriatic Sea, and Italy.
Azerbaijan began exporting gas to Europe on December 31, 2020. According to the agreement between Azerbaijan and the EU, by 2027, supplies of Azerbaijani gas should reach a minimum of 20 billion cubic meters per year. As part of the first phase of pipeline expansion, Italy will receive 1 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas, and Albania will receive 200 million cubic meters.
Based on the results of market tests conducted in 2021, TAP shareholders committed to increase the annual capacity of the pipeline by an additional 1.2 billion cubic meters above the 10 billion cubic meters by January 1, 2026.
