Mikail Jabbarov: More than 400 companies operate in Azerbaijan based on Central Asian capital
Last year, Azerbaijan's trade turnover with Central Asian countries grew by more than 50%. Currently, more than 400 companies established with Central Asian capital operate in our country.
As reported by Oxu.Az, this was stated by Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov at an official reception organized on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence Day.
He noted that Baku attaches particular importance to the development of economic ties with Ashgabat.
"The economic potential of our countries creates a solid foundation for exploring new opportunities and diversifying bilateral cooperation. The joint intergovernmental commission serves as an important platform for developing our relations and expanding interaction.
In July of this year in Ashgabat, within the framework of the IX session of the commission, we held productive discussions on strengthening partnership in priority areas, including trade and economic cooperation, energy, transport, agriculture, food security, environmental protection, water infrastructure, and other areas of mutual interest," the minister said.
M. Jabbarov also emphasized the importance of cooperation in the energy sector.
"Energy remains one of the main areas of our cooperation. Turkmen oil is transported to international markets through the territory of Azerbaijan. There is significant potential for further deepening interaction in the energy sector. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is interested in participating in projects for the development of promising oil and gas fields in Turkmenistan," he added.
