Xi Jinping addresses Putin with an important appeal regarding Ukraine for the first time

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed hope for achieving a "fair" peace agreement on Ukraine, which could become the final chord in his strategy to improve relations with Europe amid trade restrictions from the US.
According to Bloomberg, during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, the Chinese leader emphasized that Beijing is counting on a "fair, lasting and binding peace agreement" that will be accepted by all interested parties to the conflict.
"Although Xi Jinping did not specify what a possible deal should look like, the comment apparently marked the first time the Chinese leader personally outlined the principles of an agreement to end Russia's war against Ukraine," the journalists note.
Notably, the statements of the Chinese President align with the March statement by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who spoke about the desire of all parties to the conflict for a "fair and lasting peace agreement that is binding and accepted by all."
Bloomberg also reminds that recently US President Donald Trump characterized as "natural" his intention to turn to China for assistance in reaching agreements between Ukraine and Russia.
